Explore why Polynucleotides are the next breakthrough in skin regeneration, helping to boost repair and hydration from within.

The Rise of Regenerative Aesthetics

There’s a quiet revolution happening in non-surgical aesthetics — a move away from simply filling or freezing. Today’s treatments focus on restoring your skin’s natural vitality rather than masking the signs of age. Polynucleotides are part of this evolution and work by harnessing your body’s own ability to repair itself. The result? Skin that looks refreshed, hydrated, and healthy — not altered.

The Need for Cellular Repair

We all know age, stress, and pollution damage skin - collagen fibres begin to lose their strength – the elasticity fades, and hydration levels decline. Traditional injectables often address what’s visible on the surface — fine lines or volume loss — but they don’t necessarily target the underlying health of the skin. This is where new products including Exosomes and Polynucleotides become important.  They are small molecules designed scientifically to work at a cellular level – their aim is to encourage repair and revitalising the skin from within.

To read more about exosomes look through our blog:

What Are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments; they come from natural sources and can help the skin repair and regenerate itself. They are often sourced from salmon or trout due to their biochemical similarity to human DNA. They are sterile, biocompatible molecules that work in harmony with your skin to encourage cellular regeneration.

How do Polynucleotides Work in the Skin?

Once injected they work as bio-stimulants. They gradually activate three vital repair mechanisms:

1. Stimulation of fibroblasts - This boosts collagen and elastin production for firmer, more elastic skin.

2. Enhanced hydration - This improves the skin's ability to retain moisture for soft, dewy texture.

3. Increased micro-circulation - This encourages oxygenation and nutrient delivery for a healthy glow.

Over time, this results in improved tone, texture, and radiance – a refreshed, smoother complexion without added volume.

Many of our London clients notice subtle improvements  within the first few weeks – but  optimal results developing gradually over several months. Consistency is key: a short course of treatments, followed by maintenance sessions, keeps the skin looking youthful and radiant long-term.

Safety and Proven Results

Polynucleotide treatments are supported by clinical studies which show it can improve elasticity, texture, and hydration. At Refind Aesthetics, we only use CE-marked, medical-grade products administered by a GMC-registered doctor to ensure the highest level of safety and precision. Each treatment is bespoke — guided by your unique skin health and goals.

How do Polynucleotides Differ from Other Aesthetic Treatments?

Polynucleotides vs Exosomes

Both are part of the regenerative family, but they work differently. Exosomes act as cellular messengers, helping to optimise communication between cells, while Polynucleotides provide the structural tools for tissue repair. Many of our clients prefer a combined treatment plan using both products as they can see the benefits of amplified healing, hydration, and overall skin rejuvenation. It is a powerful and effective duo for advanced skin renewal.

Polynucleotides vs Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers restore lost volume and contour; however, Polynucleotides focus on rebuilding the quality of the skin itself. Rather than filling a line, Polynucleotides strengthen the foundation beneath it. For clients seeking to improve texture, tone, and overall skin vitality but do not want any added volume, Polynucleotides are an ideal choice.

Polynucleotides vs Wrinkle Relaxing Injections

Wrinkle relaxing injections, commonly referred to as Botox ®,  soften muscle movement and can help with dynamic lines; Polynucleotides improve the skin’s surface and structure. Many of our clients like to use the products together to create a more relaxed, smoother skin that has deep hydration and improved elasticity.

Finding the Right Approach for You

Every face required a tailored approach – this is why a detailed consultation is essential. At Refind Aesthetics, we’ll assess your skin health, facial anatomy, and lifestyle to design a treatment plan that suits you. This could be a combination of treatments that we believe will provide the best balanced, natural results.

Polynucleotides are delivered through a series of small, precise injections using ultra-fine needles for minimal discomfort – it takes around 30 minutes and most clients describe only a mild sensation. Afterward, the skin may appear slightly pink — this is quite normal and  a sign that the rejuvenation process has begun.

There’s minimal downtime, so you can return to your day almost immediately. As with most treatments,  we recommend avoiding heat, alcohol, and vigorous exercise for 24 hours to minimise swelling.

It takes time to produce an impact, over the next few weeks your hydration levels should  increase, fine lines should soften, and your skin should begin to show a newfound vitality.

Where do Polynucleotides Work Best?

Face and Neck

This product is absolutely perfect for improving elasticity and restoring skin textures  - Polynucleotides help smooth fine lines and rehydrate dull or tired-looking skin.

Under-Eye Rejuvenation

This is a favourite in Islington for addressing thin, crepey skin under the eyes as it brightens and strengthens delicate tissue, reducing the appearance of fatigue – it looks amazing.

Décolletage, Hands, and Body

Polynucleotides also rejuvenate the often-forgotten areas — the chest, hands, and even the knees. Skin is this area is often left more exposed and more prone to thinning and sun damage. Polynucleotides can help with both of these issues.

Synergy with Profhilo®, Exosomes, and Microneedling

Polynucleotides can be combined with Profhilo® to maximise hydration, or with exosomes for enhanced repair and recovery after microneedling. Depending on your requirements, we can combine these therapies to form a powerful regenerative care strategy that targets both structure and cellular function.

Creating a Long-Term Skin Strategy

At Refind Aesthetics, we believe great results come from consistency. A tailored maintenance plan — supported by medical-grade skincare and healthy habits — helps prolong your results and enhance your skin’s long-term resilience.
